About the Lead Researcher
Laurie Johnston is a long serving Principal, who has spent almost 25 years as both a teacher and administrator at the high school level.
In her educational leadership journey, Laurie has been a long term advocate for creating equity within schools. She has been invested in obtaining student voice to co-create the opportunities for all learners to reach their highest capacity.
In a series of women in leadership student workshops, Laurie became engaged in hearing about the sexist experiences of public high school girls. Since that time, she has been witnessing and learning about the daily realities of girls from elementary to high school.

Laurie is a trained Peace of the Circle facilitator, People Skills' leader, and Collaborative and Proactive Solutions School Provider. She has been an ally of local First Nations, through honoring Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, as well as partnering in education.
This study is a part of completing her Doctorate of Education at the University of Calgary.
